The Department of Television, Radio, Film and Theatre is excited to announce the opening of Dead Man Walking adapted for the stage by Tim Robbins, from the novel by Sister Helen Prejean.
Working together with his then-partner Susan Sarandon, writer-performer Tim Robbins transformed the real-life story of death-row reformer Sister Helen Prejean into an Oscar-winning film, "Dead Man Walking". But he wasn't done -- Robbins then turned his acclaimed screenplay into a harrowing and heartfelt stage drama.
Acting as a spiritual advisor for a rapist and murderer condemned to death, Sister Helen finds herself drawn to save not only the man's life but his soul. As the killer's time grows short, she realizes that there is only one way she can free him -- by making him face the truth of what happened the night his victims died. San Jose State University's Department of Television-Radio-Film and Theatre presents a moving production of this most remarkable play at Hal Todd Studio Theatre.
