Dawn Riding is 3 women breaking hearts, breaking pool cues, and breaking down. Songwriter Sarah Rose Janko grew up watching blues and rock n' roll bands at her dad's bar and singing herself to sleep. After leaving her small Northern California town for New York and New Orleans, and wandering around the country aimlessly, she met vocalist Sheffeild Hall McCann who learned to harmonize in church and rides a motorcycle. Together they are the voice of folk band Dawn Riding (out of Oakland,Ca) singing tales of heartache, friendship, struggle, and love. Accompanied by drummer Jasmyn Wong (The Skygreen Leopards, Paula Frazer & Tarnation, The Sarees) in her denim and silver, this trio will break your heart and have you coming back for more. Music for lovers of long nights and longing, dirt roads and slow dancing, legends and laying low.
There are outlaws, and there are outlaws. Some practice the pose and cultivate the image, though seldom dirty their soft, bourgeois hands with anything actually outside the law. When they do, it is often despicable, irresponsible or just plain mundane. The Actual Wolf, however, is a real outlaw and has pled guilty to it.
The songs on Matt Haeck’s debut album, Late Bloomer, are permeated with evocative tales of struggle with vice, addiction, depression, divorce and other demons. He is scrappy with a genuine, lyrical voice. Haeck sings of hard-earned truths, both his own and those of the original characters he creates.??The David Mayfield-produced album was recorded in East Nashville at East Side Manor Studios and will be released via Blaster Records on June 3rd.
