David J is more than just a bassist. He's a legend. First known for his work in seminal rock band Bauhaus during the 1970s and 80s (and then in all the other decades via shortlived reunions), David J has lived through a whole lot of musical history. He's also produced music, written plays, makes art, and still makes the rounds in the LA music scene, producing and playing on other artists' records as well as releasing his own solo material. As of late, David J has been leading his band, The Gentleman Thieves, while writing and publishing the story of his life and crowdfunding a new album that focuses on the feminine. Hey, this guy does not seem to stay still for very long. With his full band, David J brings you everything you want and expect from David J: a cinematic, post-rock, harmonica-playing, at times gothy performance by a sunglasses wearing music legend. Featuring heavy guitars and bass, a smartly-wielded harmonica, and a stage presence that can only be forged through decades of practice, David J owns his live set like a demented blues brother, dropping to his knees, clutching the mic stand, and picking up the acoustic guitar or bass throughout the night. J's Gentleman Thieves, also known as LA's own psych pop group Sky Parade, layer down rock rhythms while David J does his thing -- his energy rivaling that of any young rocker. You'll experience a wide swath of David J's material, from his Love and Rockets days to his solo work, and you are guaranteed be entranced by this legend the entire time.
