Description

Origenes de Vuelo/Origins of Flight: An Immigration Story is based on the true story of Mr. Herrera’s mother’s personal immigration experience from Mexico to the United States. The plot follows the flight of a young Mexican girl who encounters love and loss, cultural backlash, tragedy and consequently forced to embrace the unknowns of the “El Norte” or the North.

Our broken immigration system affects tens of millions of lives every year and too often these stories of hardship go untold. “Origins” guarantees to question each one of our personal histories and cultural roots and examines these personal hardships through a series of very specific and nuanced movements revealing external and internal landscapes that resonate with history, place, ideas and time. Origins explores a difficult journey where one's sense of self is defined not by what you have accumulated or accomplished but how struggle and hardship ultimately form the core of your identity.
