Since its inception in 1989, Dark Garden has established itself as one of the world's leading corsetiers, specializing in custom figure-shaping foundation garments. Each corset is designed to function as a corset should, without sacrificing comfort. Dark Garden's reputation for making structurally sound yet comfortable corsets has attracted the attention of celebrities and corset enthusiasts the world over.
Autumn Adamme established Dark Garden in 1989. Her vision and leadership have brought her company to the forefront of the world’s corset market. Using the finest fabrics, Dark Garden’s amazingly talented craftspeople skillfully build each corset and couture garment.
In addition to its stunning array of designs, the fitting, construction and pattern drafting techniques are also unique to Dark Garden. Unlike most off-the-rack corset makers, the sizes and shapes of the Dark Garden Ready-to-Wear or Made-to-Order corset patterns are based on an average of thousands of custom clients, rather than dress forms. This means Dark Garden corsets are made for real flesh-and-blood people and are as comfortable as they are beautiful.
Dark Garden’s gowns and corsets have been worn on Hollywood’s red carpets by Christina Aguilera, Pamela Anderson, Kelly Osbourne and Dita Von Teese; throughout San Francisco’s post-modern cabaret nightlife, on countless alternative and traditional brides in San Francisco, across the U.S. and in Europe.
In 1994, the retail store, workshop and Bridal Loft moved to the Hayes Valley neighborhood of San Francisco.
Dark Garden is proud to contribute to the community of San Francisco by employing over two-dozen local people as cutters, stitchers, fitters, bridal and production coordinators. All work—from design concept through to garment completion—is done at the Hayes Valley shop.
