Terra Nova Nurseries’ resident plant guru and past guest on “The Martha Stewart Show,” Dan Heims, will be speaking at the California Horticultural Society’s monthly meeting on Monday, Mar. 18, 2013 in the County Fair Building at the San Francisco Botanical Gardens.
Heims will be speaking from 7:45 p.m. – 8:35 p.m. PST. His topic, “Bonkers for Begonias,” will highlight a selection of begonia varieties, including new hardy introductions, as well as provide tips on how to grow and care for them in a multitude of landscape settings. During his talk, Heims will also share with attendees some of the rarest species of begonias, from 2” tall yellow blooming terrarium plants from Africa to 7’ tall giants from Brazil.
The California Horticultural Society was founded in 1933, and is dedicated to bringing together home gardeners, professional nurserymen, amateurs, and academics. Every month, except for December, the society hosts an expert guest speaker and a presentation of plants brought in by members for discussion.
