D.On Darox & The Melody Joy Bakers They are called D.on Darox & The Melody Joy Bakers. They’re a talented 5 piece band based out of Southern California that plays original music combining roots Americana with Gypsy swing and a New Orleans vibe. The band is lead by a brilliant, modern day nomad, and celebrator of life, that should have been born in another era. He goes by the name D.on Darox. The Melody Joy Bakers are equally at home busking on the street or playing honky tonk joints, seedy whiskey lounges, grand theaters and run down and abused grange halls across America. Their high energy shows and impeccable attire have won the hearts of the youth and the aged and those lost and inebriated somewhere in between. Appealing to the knockout Rockabilly, Psychobilly, Avant Gaurde Jazzabily, and R&B fans they have been known to frequent, or at least appear once, on stages such as Harvelle’s (Santa Monica and Long Beach), the Ink ‘n Iron Festival on the Queen Mary,(Long Beach) New Noise Festival (Santa Barbara), Bombay’s, The Sewer, (both Ventura) The Lobero Theater (Santa Barbara), Cinema Bar (Culver City), Old Town Pub (Pasadena), Sassafras Saloon (Hollywood) and other various reputable locations on the Sunset Strip (Los Angeles) Jake Nielsen’s Triple Threat Jake Nielsen is the hottest new act in the blues scene! He’s been making his way through the West Coast making lasting impressions on everyone that watches his talent, and inspiring with his passion! Born on march 29 1985. Jake was born with cerebral palsy, limiting the use of his legs. He was always determined to never let that bring him down, so he lived a very active life as a young kid and participated in every sport he could. He played wheelchair basketball, and was the inspiration to start a baseball league for children with special needs. Jake comes from a family that has a long line of professional cowboys. He grew up in the rodeo scene and wanted to ride calves at a very young age. He was the only cowboy that couldn’t walk and was an instant hit. Soon he was sponsored to ride all over the west coast and made a lot of buzz in the media. There were newspaper articles and magazine write ups on him, he gained a lot of respect and inspired a lot of people at a very young age.
