The Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Los Angeles together with the Honorary Consul General of the Czech Republic in San Francisco and Silicon Valley Richard Pivnicka, is pleased to announce the second annual Czech That Film Festival 2013 which will take place at Roxie Theater on May 31- June 4, 2013. The festival will introduce the following current Czech movies to film audiences in San Francisco:

Friday, May 31, 6:30 p.m.
Flower Buds, Poupata (2011, 90 min.), dir. Zden?k Jiráský
This character-driven story takes us through the trials of an ordinary family, each with
their own personal hopes and ambitions. Winner of 4 Czech Lions in 2011 including
Best Film and Best Director.

Saturday, June 1, 7:00 p.m.
Perfect Days,Ženy mají své dny (2011, 108 min.), dir. Alice Nellis
Nominated for three Czech Lions, this romantic comedy by renowned director
Alice Nellis features brilliant acting (Ivana Chylkova) from a range of characters.
It effortlessly makes light of the obstacles met in middle age, and playfully
laughs in the face of disappointment.

Sunday, Jun 2, 7:00 p.m.
Signal, Signál (2012, 100 min.), dir. Tomáš ?eho?ek
The arrival of two cell-phone technicians arouses a hope for financial gain
among the locals in a small town. However, can they genuinely fulfill
the expectations of an isolated people– or are they just imposters?

Monday, June 3, 7:00 p.m.
The House, D?m (2011, 100 min.), dir. Zuzana Liová
“The House” centers on the story of a small family trapped in a changing village,
as the community struggles to adapt. Awarded at both the Bratislava and Palm Springs
International Film Festivals.

Tuesday, June 4, 7:00 p.m.
In the Shadow, Ve Stínu (2012, 106 min.), dir. David Ond?í?ek
Crime and mystery force a detective to risk his life in search of the truth in Stalinist
Czechoslovakia. Directed by Czech filmmaker David Ond?í?ek, who was
recently listed by Variety magazine as one of the top “10 Directors to Watch.”
Submitted as the Czech entry for 2013 Best Foreign Language Film Oscar.
Winner of 9 Czech Lions including Best Film and Best Director.

AFTER PARTY AT WEST OF PECOS RESTAURANT WILL FOLLOW THIS SCREENING.
