CRYSTAL GONZALEZ
Bio: Crystal Gonzalez is a painter and cartoonist who lives and works in San Francisco. She earned her MFA from the California College of the Arts and her BA at the University of Nevada, and has shown in numerous art galleries across the states. Her acrylic paintings are a mix of social commentaries that explore and blur cultural mores through a personal array of chaotic creatures, demons, and cartoony visuals. Crystal also inks and draws a graphic novel entitled In The Dark, which is a humorous and satirical story that looks at religions and customs through the eyes of the demons in Hell. Her current projects in production include completing the third chapter of her graphic novel, a compilation art book of her fine art paintings, and an upcoming animation series based on In The Dark.

"Plug Me In” A Series on Consumer Culture and Electronics Obsession"
Promiscuous is a long bodied creature with a plug for a head and an outlet between her legs. When she’s not keeping up with the latest software apps and observing the mental decay of reality TV, she is jacking into the spines of her prey, enjoying the electric connection that have become a staple of the society we live in. This series is a collection of acrylic paintings that showcase Promiscuous in her natural environment. Composed of both cartoony visuals and subversive symbolism, her world is a land of wires and flesh, connections and consumption. She may be blind and deaf, but her “computer mice” are wired into the fabric of everything in the world…they act as her eyes and ears as well as her method of finding and catching prey. Her prey of choice? The general populace of course! Wired into their iPads and headphones, they are the ones staring into glowing screens and hooked on the pleasures of a digital space that cannot be avoided. It’s no wonder Promiscuous has so many wires and can’t seem to get enough. So many outlets to fill, yes…let’s all plug in and enjoy the chaos!
