Comedy for a Spinal Cause

Join us and invite your friends for a great night of laughter and community with a very special group of people and an even more special cause, Wednesday November 18th at the Barrel House, SF.

All funds raised on the night will go to Arash Bayatmakou.

Arash continues to commit his full time attention and efforts to reaching his ultimate goal of getting back on his feet and walking. Since his injury, he has been able to focus in on the therapies that are most effective for him and the main part of that is the Neurokinetic Pilates Therapy that he did in Maui with his incredible practitioner Alejandra Monsalve who renewed his faith in his recovery. In order to keep improving and learning from her, he is going back to Maui in January for a month and there are many costs associated with that trip. All donations for this event will go towards his therapy in Maui, travel, and accommodation costs.

There will be wine and beer available and all proceeds generated on the night via ticket sales and drink donations will go directly to the cause.

We have hilarious headlining comedians, cheap alcohol and beautiful people. What more could you want?.Doors open at 7, show starts at 7:45 and runs until 9:45pm.

Comedians performing on the night:

Kabir "Kabeezy" Singh is Fresh off his "Comedy Central" Debut on the hit comedy show "Gabriel Iglesias's Stand-Up Revolution," A high-energy, crowd-pleasing comic with an in-your-face attitude and razor-sharp wit, Kabeezy's won numerous comedy competitions, including taking first place two years in a row at the Bay Area Stand Up Comedy Competition, but most importantly won the 2014 39th Annual "SF International Comedy Competition"by coming in first place in all 5 shows in the Final Round which was the first time that happened in It's rich 39 year history.

Richard Sarvate is a San Francisco based comedian with an alternative sense of humor. His jokes range from silly imaginings about a taqueria that serves fortune churros, to deep and introspective subjects like his mother’s schizophrenia. He has performed in the prestigious San Francisco Sketchfest Festival, and recently opened for Roseanne Barr.
Chad Opitz: SF Bay Area comedy legend Jimmy Gunn bestowed Chad Opitz with the 2013 “Best Newcomer” Award. This is a fitting tribute to the young comic whose sharp takes on horror movies, GMOs, electronic cigarettes and cheap beer has made Opitz a sought after performer by venue bookers and fans alike. Hailing from the great Northwest, Opitz is now becoming a Bay Area staple and was the winner of the 2014 Walk the Plank Comedy Competition.

Arthur Gaus is a study in contradictions. His perspective is both youthful and cynical. His style is funny, sharp and unique. Arthur has played numerous venues including The Purple Onion, The Punch Line, Cobbs Comedy Club and The San Jose Improv and opened for such greats as Brian Regan, David Spade, Kevin Nealon, Ed Helms and John Oliver.
Emily Van Dyke is 31 and still on her mom’s cell phone plan. Originally from the Midwest, she's struggled to overcome a monotone voice, nearsightedness and the death of her late cat Patches to become a comic who has an apartment with a washer/dryer inside of it. Emily hosts the comedy dating show "Flirting with Laughter," she performs with the sketch group "Don't Watch This Show Live" and she was the winner of the 2013 Walk the Plank Comedy Competition.

Jonny Eller, known for his in-your-face attitude and brilliant stage presence, has been traveling all over the U.S, bringing funny to stages at clubs and colleges all over the nation. With a solid improv background and a quick mind for comedy, Jonny is well known for his impressions and his ability to connect with all kinds of audiences everywhere.

Comedy for a Spinal Cause is a quarterly event bringing together top comedians & local communities, raising funds and awareness to assist incredible individuals on their road to spinal cord injury recovery. Like us here: (Can just be a general liking and not an imaginary thumbs up)
