COLDHARBOUR RECORDINGS NIGHT ft. KHOMHA, GRUBE & HOVSEPIAN & MR PIT

SEE EVENT DETAILS
KHOMHA

Barely 18 months into his professional career, KhoMha’s music has already sent shockwaves through electronic dance music circles. The effect of this scene-stealing audio has latterly been compounded by a run of dexterous, electrifying deck performances, which display intuitive track selection and mixing sophistication far beyond his years. For visiting big name DJs, this has seen him become Columbia’s warm-up man of choice and to date he’s rocked the sound-systems of clubs like Forum, Carnival, Wild, La Kasa, Mistica and Envy. Putting these two disciplines together has marked the young Columbian’s card as an EDM star in the making.

KhoMha’s productions and remixes notably transcend traditional dance music divisions, with his work being embraced by an extensive, impressive cross-section of DJs. His studio-wares have charged the decks of Guetta, Schulz and Van Doorn as quickly as they have those of Armin or Tiesto. That in turn has captured the imagination of clued-up clubbers from around he world in ever-greater numbers. Further defining this multidenominational style is the wide range of labels that have come knocking on the Medellin resident’s studio door. Among them to date have been the likes of Armada and Ultra Music, Black Hole Recordings, Cr2, Pinkstar, Spinnin’, Coldharbour and many others.

Markus Schulz hailed KhoMha as Coldharbour Recordings’ first Artist of the Year in 2011. Both Schulz and Matt Darey also named him in their Top 100 DJ interviews as their Producer of the Year. They have been quick to call on KhoMha’s production power for their own tracks, assigning him to remix (respectively) their 2011 releases ‘Sinners’ and ‘Hold Your Breath’. Further, KhoMha’s also been behind reworks of tracks from the likes of Nadia Ali & Chris Reece, DNS Project and Ad Brown.

Original KhoMha productions like ‘Magnetik’, ‘Rainy In The Night’ and ‘507’ have brought equally quick support from the press. DJ Mag called the latter track “a white-knuckle, biggest-ride-in-the-park type tune”, going on to say that “when dropped, right-time/right-floor, ‘507’ does scary levels of damage”. In advance of its release, Mixmag hailed his ‘Mind Gamer’ track as “perfectly judged” as well as “confident, convincing audio” and went on to pronounce it “smoking hot!” DJ Mag meanwhile praised its “intricate drum and percussion programming” and said that it was a “subtly nuanced track” remarking it had “far more going on than first meets the ear”.

At just 21 years of age, KhoMha’s conclusively on EDM’s career fast-track.

GRUBE & HOVSEPIAN

As the saying goes, two heads are better than one - a maxim keenly demonstrated by the success of Tim Grube & Mike Hovsepian’s studio & spinning union. Grube & Hovsepian came into existence in 2008 when - having heard Markus Schulz dropping his tracks on his Global DJ Broadcast show - Tim made contact with Mike. As A&R for Schulz’s record label, Tim had locked onto the intrinsic Coldharbour themes in Mike’s productions. A like-mind recognized, he proposed a new partnership for the pair. It’s one that has subsequently seen them bring their productions – ‘City of Angels’ and ‘Venom’ among them- to the sound-systems of some of the world’s most celebrated clubs and events. These have included stateside home-runs at LA’s Avalon, Miami’s Mansion, and main-stage wowing performances at European arena events, including the mighty Transmission.

In the studio they’ve carved just as quick a mark on electronic dance music’s landscape. Building up an impressive disc & remixography, the duo have served up a proverbial sound-storm of tracks for many respected labels. Among them have been Armada Music, Audio Cargo, Club Elite, High Contrast, and (naturally enough) Coldharbour, who’ve shared the spoils of multifaceted audio like ‘City of Angels’, ‘Venom’, ‘Memory Lane’, ‘Invisible’, ‘Conviction’, and ‘Pressure’. Demonstrating stylistic range well beyond their years, together they’ve become as adept at serving markets with rapaciously uplifting trance storms as they have cooler-minded, more progressively orientated audio. Reflecting G&H’s impact, the music press have been quick to praise their releases. Of ‘City of Angels’, LA’s EDM Magazine said it “peaks with knock-you-off-your-feet-like impact” while the UK’s DJ Mag said that ‘Venom’ “could very well be Grube & Hovsepian’s coming-of-age track”. Their latest single ‘Memory Lane’ again highlights the pair’s impressive flexibility. With its more mainline, radio-conscious sound, the track became one of the first releases on the Schulz Music Group’s Audio Cargo imprint.

On the remix front, they’ve rewired the likes of Markus Schulz’s ‘Do You Dream’, tyDi’s ‘Fire & Load’ and M.I.K.E.’s ‘Mi Casa Su Casa’, whilst also tackling more mainstream fare like Ellie Goulding’s ‘Lights’. This club ordinance has found its way into an increasing high profile litany of DJs wallets – Tiesto, Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, Sander Van Doorn, and Markus Schulz being just some of the regular deck supporters. In 2012 they became one of the first signings to the Schulz Music Group development stable. On bringing them into the stable, Markus said: “When he (Tim) teamed up with Mike Hovsepian, I immediately saw that they’d found a connection that was going to work for them both. For me, they have become the most exciting duo to come along in the last 3 years”.

The pair are no less proficient in the turntable arts. Tim originally honed his behind-the-decks skills warming up for many world-class DJs in his native Washington D.C. area, while Mike blazed a comparable trail over on the west coast. Now collectively based in Miami, their progressive/trance, and electro-tinged sets have brought discerning EDM fans flocking in ever increasing numbers. With clubs like LA’s Avalon, Space Miami, and District 36 in New York City profoundly smashed, in March 2013 - during MMW - they were chosen to open for the debut of Markus Schulz & Ferry Corsten’s New World Punx act at Mansion, Miami. 2013 was also the year that saw them make their European DJ debut, rocking the main-stage of Prague’s 15,000 capacity O2 Arena during Transmission 2013.
