About
Club Fugazi is the permanent home of the incredibly popular 'Beach Blanket Babylon' revue, San Francisco's longest running show. Known for its outrageously huge hats (modeled after the city's famous landmarks) piled up sky-high on sassy singers, 'Beach' will probably play well into the next century. You've probably seen the hats sometime in your life; they've made an appearance at the Academy Awards.
The show originated at the Savoy Tivoli in 1974, and became so popular that creator Steve Silver (now deceased) moved the zany musical spoof to Club Fugazi. The space features cocktail tables on the bottom level and seating in the balcony. The venue is small, so you won't have any problem seeing the extravagant hats and costumes. When featured performer Val Diamond belts out the Burt Bacharach/Dusty Springfield show stopper, 'Anyone Who Had A Heart,' you'll feel chills run down your spine. -- Lewis Tice
