Scandinavian Fashion for the San Francisco Lifestyle In a major metropolitan area where you can find at least a hundred different types of cuisines in 14 square miles, I wonder why you can’t find just as many clothing stores with a regional influence as well. However, Flicka, a boutique stocked with Scandinavian goods on Fillmore Street in Pacific Heights is just that. When you think of Scandinavian products, you probably think of IKEA or even H&M. Scandinavian creations tend to be clean, modern, bold and affordable. Flicka encompasses most of that, except for the affordability. |

Roaring As Divisadero approaches Haight St., an eccentric strip of shops and boutiques appears. The area is more of a destination than ever before, with fine dining (Nopa), live music (The Independent), and nightlife (Madrone, The Page, Waziema). As regular foot traffic grows so do the businesses, which already include a comic shop, a day spa, a games shop, and various second-hand stores. |

Give Good Green I love New York. I love New York even more when it’s in San Francisco. Barneys New York is the latest shopping destination to have newly rooted itself near our own Union Square. What used to be FAO Schwartz’s tower of toys that greeted us through the opening doors are now a six-floor of fashion mecca. |

French Couture at Target Prices New York, Milan, Paris and London all find themselves as spotlights for the catwalk circuits of any major design house. Other cities fetch some flash such as Los Angeles but San Francisco? Not so much. Californian denizens such as Peter Som and Derek Lam flock to New York to define au courant looks for Bill Blass and Tod‘s, respectively. Now Erin Fetherston has fled the coop too. |

Good Stuffs Rather than writing disdainfully about Halloween’s descent into the masses’ sorry excuse for getting away with as much skank as possible in public, I’ve opted to write about something much more pleasurable: the opening of San Francisco’s very own Rare Device. Blossoming in the space formerly known as National Product on Market Street, Rare Device is Rena Tom’s West Coast treat of a shop that originated in Brooklyn. |

Hidden and Found in Cow Hollow Tucked inside a blushing Queen Anne Victorian above street level and in a large bay window lays a creamy pink room with a cast iron bed strewn with a lace and pearl thong. Cast atop a nightstand lays a pink suede blindfold. Just beyond the bedroom, shelves of glittering private and demure pleasures beckon. Here, at IntimaGirl, we find an affair of intimate indulgences. |

More Choices than Just Itsy-Bitsy, Teeny-Weeny and Yellow Polka-Dots While riding my bike a couple months ago down 18th Street, I spotted a bikini store on the left hand side of the street. I really couldn’t believe there was a bikini store in the Mission. Natives and visitors alike are well aware what kind of weather San Francisco is known for, and it’s not beach weather. |
