Description

It’s recognized as Charlie Chaplin’s greatest film, one of the greatest works of cinema ever created, a “silent movie” released three years after the start of the talkies era of sound. Containing several of Chaplin’s most brilliant set pieces, CITY LIGHTS follows the adventures of The Tramp as he falls in love with a pretty, blind flower girl who mistakes him for a wealthy and important citizen. This combination of pathos, slapstick and comedy was a tribute to the art of body language and pantomime—Chaplin being the lone keeper of the flame of a dying art form.
