Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix

at Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway (check web site for schedule) City

Rev up for summer with the country’s biggest motorcycle race, the MotoGP World Championship. This 2.238 mile world renowned race is so popular that the entire community of Monterey celebrates when these biker enthusiasts come to town. Be prepared for every kind of bike with a great nightlife down on Cannery Row with all the bikes lined up for viewing. Bring your babe and your leathers!

Fourth of July Waterfront Celebration

at Pier 39 (1pm - 10pm) City

Celebrate Independence Day at Pier 39 with an afternoon of free concerts. Take 2 will perform on Pier 39’s Entrance Plaza Stage from 1 – 4 pm followed by Tainted Love from 6 – 9:30 pm. At approximately 9:30 pm, stay at Pier 39 to watch the City of San Francisco’s spectacular fireworks display over the Bay.

Fillmore Jazz Festival

4th of July at the Berkeley Marina

The 4th of July is a great day to have a lot of fun. The biggest party is on the South Shore of the Berkeley Marina. There’s music, dancers, jugglers all for free! Sign up for an old-fashioned sack race, create a nature sculpture with environmental artist Zach Pine, or get your face painted. Try the giant slide or splash in the water at the beach!

Mystery Trail Challenge

at Crissy Field (9am) City

Grab a magnifying glass and get down to the Warming Hut, near the fishing pier at the western end of Crissy Field. Once there, you'll find a booklet that directs you down the Mystery Trail in search of the first clue. There are nine secret plaques altogether, hidden along a one-mile waterfront trail-can you find them all? A prize awaits you if you can! Take the Crissy Field Mystery Trail Challenge, unlock its secrets and claim your surprise!

Fourth of July festivities continue with a program celebrating the American ethos of hope, innovation, and exploration, featuring sultry Bay Area songstress Stephanie Harwood and 15-year-old cello prodigy Nathan Chan. The evening concludes with a spectacular fireworks display, set to stirring patriotic songs and marches.

Chili Cook-Off and Summer Festival

at Mitchell Park (Noon) City

The tradition continues as we celebrate Independence Day at the Palo Alto Summer Festival & Chili Cook-off. Attracting thousands of sun and chili lovers, the festival embraces everything wonderful about summer. Taste an array of red-hot chili delicacies prepared by teams of chefs battling for the chili championship. Live music, line dancing, children's activities and food vendors. Admission is free. Tasting kits will be sold for a nominal fee.

4th of July onboard the USS Hornet

at USS Hornet Museum (10am - 10pm) City

Visit the USS Hornet Aircraft Carrier in Alameda on July 4 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.with live music on the flight deck, interactive games for all ages, a bounce house for kids, tours throughout the day. At night, panoramic views of Bay Area fireworks from the flight deck.
