Chris Brown and Trey Songz

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Chris Brown:
Chris Brown, the first male solo artist to have his debut single reach #1 on the Billboard charts, Chris Brown has been compared to Michael Jackson thanks to his smooth vocals and flawless dance moves. With the chart toppers "Ayo" and "Loyal" to his credit, Chris Brown is one of R&B's most exciting stars.

Trey Songz:
There are entertainers who sing for their people and then there are singers who speak for their generation. Stevie spoke for hearts and souls; Marvin crooned for his country; Fela sent the rhythm of Africa abroad; Curtis gave the ghetto a voice. Artists come a dime a dozen, but a spokesman for the masses who's been bestowed with a voice from the heavens, once every generation. With Songbook/Atlantic Records R&B blessing Trey Songz, the first generation to come of age in the 21st century has one they can claim as their own.

Tyga:
Like rap's most famous fivesome, Tyga came straight outta Compton, but the similarities with Eazy, Ren, Dre, Cube and Yella end there. E.'s breath might have been stinking from the 8-Ball, but Tyga prefers "Coconut Juice," and is definitely the first hip-hop star in history to turn his aversion to alcohol into a pop hit. After joining T-Pain and Nicki Minaj on Lil Wayne's Young Money, Tyga's quickly moved away from early songs like "I'm a Gangsta," instead twisting old-school rap up with reggae style, humor ("Listen, this is Encino, not Compton!") and big-bottom beats for party-ready anthems. But his epic new album Careless World: Rise of the King is yet another chapter for the half Jamaican and half Vietnamese 22-year-old.

He's still ready to party (and yeah, those are the tracks, like "Rack City," that are surefire hits), but across the album's almost two dozen tracks he also shows a serious and introspective side. This time, it's personal. - Steve Palopoli sanjose.com
