Marin and Sonoma Counties are the epicenter of California's lively artisanal cheese movement, home to 22,000 acres used to produce almost 100 different handmade cow, sheep, goat and water buffalo milk cheeses. Join the JCCSF and the California Artisan Cheese Guild for our second annual cheese talk and tasting, featuring cheesemakers from Bohemian Creamery (a favorite of the Obamas) and Tomales Farmstead Creamery as well as the founder of Double 8 Dairy, one of the few water buffalo dairies in the US. They’ll discuss their craft, cultural heritage, animals and the bountiful land on which they depend.
Finish the evening with a tasting of their luscious handiwork, accompanied by cider from AppleGarden Farm, wine from Justice Grace Vineyards and Belden Barns, beer from Almanac Beer Company, and other nibbles from Canyon Market.
Our community partner is American Farmland Trust.
A complimentary wine tasting will precede the event, provided by Justice Grace Vineyard.
