Home of the Official Sanctioned MLE Taco Eating Contest
The restaurant group behind Chacho’s Restaurant, and downtown San Jose’s newest hotspot Deluxe, is spearheading its second annual all-day taco festival, August 20th from 11AM to 8PM for guests of all ages. Kids 12 and under are admitted FREE.
The event takes place at San Jose’s St. James Park, right in the heart of downtown’s historic district. This family friendly event will showcase all local vendors, exhibiting the latest in Mexican fusion cuisine along with traditional favorites.
Admission is only $10 and tickets are available now at chachostacofestival.com, Groupon & Eventbrite. Again kids 12 and under are admitted FREE.
Musical guests include The Cure Tribute Band, Planet Earth, and Duran Duran Tribute Band playing classic 80’s tunes the whole family can enjoy, joined by a surprise band to be announced live on Twitter @ilovechachos.
“Chacho’s Taco Festival is a Major League Eating (MLE) sanctioned event. This is our second year hosting this fun and accessible festival the whole community can take part in. It’s a great day to get out and mingle with your neighbors. Bring the family to try a variety of local Mexican cuisine and participate in the taco eating contest,” says serial restaurateur Jorge Sanchez.
Last year’s winner Matt "Megatoad" Stonie of San Jose, CA finished 103 tacos in eight minutes, and currently holds the title of number two ranked competitive eater in Major League Eating. Competitors are welcome at all levels.
