MCCLA will be hosting a onetime screening of the biographical documentary "Cesar Chavez: History is made one step at a time" on April 23rd at 7:00pm. The film follows Chavez's efforts to organize 50,000 farm workers in California, some of whom were temporary workers from Mexico. Working conditions are very poor for the farm workers, who also suffer from racism and brutality at the hands of the employers and local Californians. "Cesar Chavez" portrays the creation of the labor union know as the United Farm Workers (UFW), and several major nonviolent campaigns lead by Chavez and UFW: the Delano Grape Strike, The Salad Bowl Strike, and the 1975 Modesto march.
