In their fifth album ¡Live! (ita music 2016), Cascada de Flores reimagines tradition through individual expression and musical communication. With the essence, perhaps, of the jazz musicians that they so admire, the Sextet swims the waters (some uncharted) that lap the shores of Mexico, the Spanish Caribbean and even the north with its big bands and ballads. With simple arrangements that allow space for improvisation and pure expression the musicians expertly pulls the listener into the boleros, malagueñas, afros and danzones; the music becomes personal and communal.
