Candelaria

Since 2009, Oakland, California based CANDELARIA has been moving dance floors all over the West Coast and Midwest with their unique sound. Candelaria’s recordings and live performances are unforgettable, as they combine infectious, soulful Colombian cumbia rhythms with vibrant horns, incendiary country guitar, powerful female-fronted vocals, and a dose of Jamaican dub technique in real-time using live effects. With all of these elements, Candelaria has developed their own high-energy sound that exlodes with contagious dance grooves.

Candelaria has perfomed at major festivals such as Sierra Nevada World Music Festival, BlissFest, Joshua Tree, Oracle Oneworld, Mateel Summer Arts, Bastille Days and Lightning in a Bottle. They have toured the US playing shows and festivals sharing the stage with Dumpstaphunk, Los Amigos Invisibles, Bomba Estereo, Chico Trujillo, Damien Marley, Ozomatli, Blackalicious, and many others.

Candelaria is soon to release their new studio album “bien good, produced” by 8-time Grammy Nominee Greg Landau and has been chosen by NPR-alt latino as an up and coming band to watch. Also, Candelaria’s one-off release “La Cumbia Cienaguera” was recently awarded the Akademia Music Award for Best Latin song December 2015.
