Event Description
C.J. Alegre and her three piece band will be performing playful, dark, jazzy original tunes from the yet to be released 6 song sophomore EP 'Glow in the Mire.'
Your $10 admission includes a physical copy of C.J.'s debut album 'Green Nearby' (2012) along with a pre-release download code for one of her new EP tracks.
This special EP sneak peek performance is for one night only, with limited seating.
CJ Alegre is a songwriter and folk/pop artist from the East Bay Area of California whose haunting melodies and powerful vocals drive the CJ Alegre band. Combining elements of jazz with her stylized soulful folk/pop sound, her classic yet edgy vocals have been described as "Regina Spector meets Zooey Deschanel".
CJ began songwriting in 2008 as a means of keeping sane while completing law school. By 2010 she was busking regularly all over the East Bay and San Francisco. She gained further attention after being named one of the best street performers in the country by Rolling Stone magazine. Shortly thereafter she landed her catchy song "I've Got My Health" from her debut album "Green Nearby" in a national radio/tv ad for Chevy.
CJ just recorded her sophomore EP at Tiny Telephone Oakland, with the invaluable help of some of the Bay Area's most exciting musicians-Sean Norris, Ben Thomas, and Miles Lathan. She will be releasing the EP in 2017.
