| Description Imagine the sensual sounds of the Middle East mixed with guitars and keyboards - ancient Arab/Turkish folk-shawm horns driven by modern drums - Celtic harmonies, Mardi Gras spice, and Moroccan oud melodies. Since 1975 the Brothers' filial bond has been the music. First known internationally for their traditional Middle-Eastern recordings, the Brothers now tastefully mix traditional ethnic acoustic instruments with Western instrumentation, vocals in seven languages and exotic rhythms with familiar grooves.
The Brothers of the Baladi have headlined at hundreds of colleges, clubs and festivals. Maria Muldaur, The Mamas and the Papas, Leon Redbone, Paul Horn, and Zachary Richard are just a few of the names they have shared the stage with. Credits also include soundwork for the Tony Award winning Oregon Shakepeare Festival's Midsummer Night's Dream and Comedy of Errors. The Brothers have developed a new uncharted musical crossroads, from Middle-Eastern Music, Reggae, Celtic, Latin and Rootsy Rock 'n' Roll. Well known local Middle Eastern Belly Dance Instructors and performers will perform with the band. |
