True legends of American popular music, Beach Boys mastermind Brian Wilson, founding member Al Jardine, and former Beach Boys guitarist Blondie Chapman reunite to perform material from Wilson’s new solo album, No Pier Pressure, and a selection of Beach Boys classics. A peerless producer and performer, Wilson is the genius behind the pop masterpiece Pet Sounds, ranked #2 in Rolling Stone’s list of 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, and remains one of the most revered musical artists of the 20th Century. He is the subject of the new biographical film, Love & Mercy, starring John Cusack in the title role. An omnivorous consumer of jazz and pop music in his youth, Wilson was heavily influenced by the vocal harmonies of popular jazz a cappella group The Four Freshman, saying that their approach “brings a feeling of love inside me.... That feeling of harmony.” He used that inspiration to create the basis of the Beach Boys’ distinctive vocal sound, which has influenced legions of musicians to follow, including Paul McCartney and David Bowie.
