Description
Ping Pong Gallery is pleased to present its second solo exhibition with Brian Wasson, Last Wash. In his first exhibition with Ping Pong Gallery, This Time I Wanted You To Know, Wasson expressed his enjoyment at finding pleasure in the irony of life. The collection of work, although tongue-in-cheek, was injected with a 'warmth, sincerity and nostalgia' which set it decidedly apart from other minimal artworks (Tiffany Martini - The Examiner). In his current exhibition, it seems that his "finding pleasure in the irony of life no longer works. The irony has warped from absurdity into meaninglessness, the pleasure, only solace..." The collection of works in this exhibition, although again rife with cheeky humor, circle around ideas of excess, solace and time. Constructed from many personal experiences, Wasson's photography, sculpture, painting, and mixed media suggest to the viewer one possible approach to interpretation: "start every day with a smile and get it over with" (W.C. Fields).
