| Description Fagan's new work tells the global story of climate change between the 10th and 15th centuries, known as the Medieval Warming Period, and puts it into context - its peaks and valleys followed a trend that we can clearly make out in retrospect. We're entering a time when extreme aridity will affect a large portion of the population, where the challenges to adapt once again will be even more complex. There's much to learn in the history of drought and Fagan offers valuable lessons in THE GREAT WARMING: Climate Change and the Rise and Fall of Civilizations. Brian Fagan is emeritus professor of anthropology at UCSB and the author of The Little Ice Age, Fish on Friday, and The Long Summer. 7:00 PM at Cody's Fourth Street |
