Fagan's new work tells the global story of climate change between the 10th and 15th centuries, known as the Medieval Warming Period, and puts it into context - its peaks and valleys followed a trend that we can clearly make out in retrospect. We're entering a time when extreme aridity will affect a large portion of the population, where the challenges to adapt once again will be even more complex.
