Bravo!: Music and Theater in Enlightenment Europe

SEE EVENT DETAILS
at Cantor Arts Center (see times)
Patronage for acting and music flourished across Europe during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Monarchs and city governments sponsored an unprecedented number of performing arts schools, and audiences embraced works that inspired debate about politics, national identity, or any subjects considered fashionable or scandalous. The prints and drawings in this installation explore the worlds of theatrical and musical performance by depicting dramas transpiring within--or just outside--the spotlight.
