He has amassed a formidable list of collaborators including Curtis Fuller, Von Freeman, Eddie Harris, Jack DeJohnette, and Sheila Jordan, and was dubbed "Little Red Rodney" by trumpet icon Dizzy Gillespie in reference to the storied Charlie Parker musical partner.
