Black Dot Cafe

Cafes

The Legendary Black Dot Cafe founded in 1998 by the poet Marcel Diallo and ran by the Black Dot Artists' Collective, is a cultural pillar in Oakland, California. In addition to a good soy latté, Black Dot serves up weekly community dialogues, monthly art exhibits, special literary and music events. It is definitely the place to visit if you're passing through the Bay Area and desire to get a sense of what Oakland is all about. Located in the emerging Village Bottoms Cultural District the Cafe is right next door to a Botanica/African art gallery and a few short blocks from Cornelia Bell's Black Bottom Gallery, The Village Bottoms Farm and the Black New World Social Aid & Pleasure Club.
