Big in Japan Series: Victoria Tsai, CEO, Tatcha “A Business Devoted to Japanese Beauty”

SEE EVENT DETAILS
at Squire Pattons Boggs (see times)
Part of our series featuring senior level executives with deep ties to Japan.

After a decade of working for large corporations, Victoria Tsai yearned for more simplicity and authenticity in her life. On a trip to Kyoto, she discovered a world of beauty, craftsmanship and heritage. And a chance encounter with a modern-day geisha changed her life. Seeking answers to her own skincare challenges, she discovered a different approach to skincare, one based on the philosophy of “less is more.”

Drawing on her business background, and working closely with a team of Japanese scientists, Victoria combined the beauty secrets she learned from the geisha with modern technology. The result is TATCHA, a luxury skincare line that blends cutting edge scientific technology with traditional Japanese ingredients such as camellia, rice bran, green tea, red algae and peony. Tatcha has received rave reviews in publications from Vogue to The New York Times, and achieved great success in that most American of venues, QVC.

In this talk, Victoria will share her unique story, including her discovery of Japanese culture and her journey to building a successful business. She will also give us a window into what it’s like to run a company with deep ties to Japan – from ingredient sourcing, working with Japanese partners and suppliers, and bringing Japanese quality and aesthetics to the American market. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to hear from an executive whose work spans two cultures, with beautiful results.
