Happening on Friday, June 27th, Big Bay Birthday will once again get your Pride weekend started with a night of outrageous San Francisco birthday revelry. The party has moved from the Old Mint to the Mezzanine, one of the city’s premier music venues.
This is the pre-Pride party that also will celebrate SF’s 238th birthday. Big Gay Birthday will feature DJ sets by JD Samson (MEN, Le Tigre) and DJ Rapid Fire, a live performance by Double Duchess, drag performances by Honey Mahogany and Peaches Christ, featured cocktails, and so much more.
Big Gay Birthday is also offering attendees the chance to show off their lip sync skills in front of a thousand people! Entrants post a video of themselves doing one of their favorite jams on Instagram with the hashtag #biggaybirthday to be considered. The Bold Italic will select a handful of the best performers to receive a free ticket, on-stage performance, feedback by our judges including Peaches Christ and Honey Mahogany, and compete for a great prize package!
Last year’s inaugural Big Gay Birthday was a tremendous success, attracting close to a thousand people to the Old Mint for a rowdy celebration of the 237th anniversary of the founding of San Francisco and a worthy kick-off to SF Pride Weekend - an event that represents this city’s diverse and inclusive culture and history. The icing on the proverbial cake was the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down many provisions of Proposition 8, restoring the rights of same sex couples to be lawfully wed in California.
Tickets to Big Gay Birthday are $20. Early bird tickets are available, while supplies last, for only $15. Group tickets are $80, good for five people at the price of four tickets. VIP ticket with access to exclusive upstairs lounge areas throughout the night, drinks, and additional perks are $50 per person.
