Big Fat Year End Kiss Off Comedy Show XXIV

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Yes, the year is ending – and what better way to kiss it off than in the company of some of the funniest – and most irreverent – comedians around? Premier political satirist Will Durst has gathered a gang of notorious local wits and wags, including Bay Area favorite Johnny Steele, along with Debi Durst, Michael Bossier, Mari Magaloni, and Arthur Gaus, for an evening of stand-up comedy, improv, and sketches riffing on the major news stories of 2016. The troupe is celebrating the 24th anniversary of Big Fat Year End Kiss Off, and the past year has certainly given them plenty of material to plunder for laughter and delight in this PG-13 rated show.

ABOUT THE COMEDIANS

Presenting “comedy for people who read, or know someone who does,” Will Durst makes a point of puncturing the pomposity of sacred cows on both sides of the aisle. A five-time Emmy nominee and a regular commentator for audible.com, CNN, and NPR, Will is as current as today's headlines, as sharp as razor wire, and in the words of the New York Times, "quite possibly the best political satirist working in the country today." His hobbies include pinball and the never-ending quest for the perfect cheeseburger, and his heroes remain the same as when he was 12 – Thomas Jefferson and Bugs Bunny. Will’s performances are made possible by the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.

Johnny Steele, known to many Bay Area folks as the host of the Live 105 Morning Radio Show in the late 1990s and co-host of KRON's The Show in the early 2000s, has done comedy at clubs and festivals throughout the country for more than three decades. He is currently working on a solo show about his journey to find peace in a "WalMart America gone mad with mindless consumption, endless sprawl, and bone jarring stupidity."

Debi Durst is an established Bay Area comedian who's opened for everyone from George Carlin to her husband, Will. She's also made vocal contributions to several movies, including Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas, for which she provided the voice of the little corpse boy.

Michael Bossier, when asked about the role of comedians in society, said, “I believe we’re the canaries in the coal mines. It’s our job to digest three newspapers, subscribe to over twenty magazines, surf the web, listen to the radio, and read at least a book a week.”

Mari Magaloni is a member of the sketch comedy troupe Comedy Noir. In addition to impersonating Sarah Palin in the troupe’s Obama Roast, Mari plays Joan Rivers in their Hitler Roast and the Virgin Mary in the Jesus Roast.

Arthur Gaus is a stand-up comedian and actor. He has appeared at San Francisco Comedy Day, among other top-notch productions.
