Beyond Our Borders will provide dance, music, and theatre professionals (both artists and administrators) with the tools, skills, and resources needed to thrive in the global performing arts marketplace. Participants will be guided in understanding the global scene; integrating international work into their organizations; and building their international profiles.
The two weekend workshops will be hosted by American Dance Abroad (a project of Performing Arts Strategies), which strengthens the export of American performing artists by empowering them to build stronger international relationships. The workshops will be in the East Bay area and San Francisco (details below), for maximum accessibility. Both workshops will be led by Carolelinda Dickey and Andrea Snyder, co-directors of American Dance Abroad.
American Dance Abroad will continue to work with a small cohort of workshop attendees to travel to an international marketplace, festival, or platform during 2016. This will give participants the opportunity to practice the skills they’ve gained, and to build relationships.
The workshops are made possible by funding from the Kenneth Rainin Foundation, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, and the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation. Bay Area organizations helping to spread the word to their constituents include Dancers’ Group, Theatre Bay Area, San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music, SF International Arts Festival, ODC, World Arts West, Western Arts Alliance and Intersection for the Arts.
