B&S Bio

Benoit & Sergio produce dance songs that sometimes seem like musical open letters; editorials narrated in the voices of unidentified, yet totally recognizable colorful characters, read aloud against a backdrop of beautifully lush, warm and sen- suous electronic pop music. ?
?
The French/US duo met at an after party in Berlin, and it wasn’t long before their signature combination of rich synth work combined with pop influenced lyrical magic and impressive songwriting had been released on labels such as Spectral Sound, DFA, Visionquest, Hot Creations and Culprit.?
?
Benoit & Sergio draw from influences mostly uncommon to the house and techno zeitgeist; bands like The Talking Heads, Pavement and Roxy Music are all sources, along with electronic acts ranging from Daft Punk to Ricardo Villalobos. All these influences resonate clearly in their music, together with a sexual melodrama that manifests in lyrics about loneli- ness, French girls, wine and Ferraris.?
?
The past few years have brought a haul of critical accolades, including iTunes Breakthrough Electronic Artists of the Year (2011), Resident Advisor Top 10 Live acts (2011, 2012), Vibe Magazine's Top Duos (2013) and GQ Magazine's top Ameri- can electronic acts (2014). Their ubiquitous remix of Hot Natured's 'Reverse Skydiving' received recognition as one of Billboard's top 50 game-changing tracks (2013), with a similar recognition for 'Your Darkness' by Pulse Radio (2014). Re- cently, they were nominated for the 'Best Indie Dance / Underground DJ' category at the 30th Annual Winter Music Con- ference (2015). Remix-wise, Benoit & Sergio have been invited to work on tracks from indie pop acts such as Matthew Dear, Metronomy and Friendly Fires.?
?
As well as spending time in their Berlin and DC studios, the pair toured extensively throughout 2015: from Warung in Brazil, to Into The Valley in Sweden, Ultra in Buenos Aires and beyond. They joined the ranks of Matt Tolfrey’s Leftroom label with the infectious single ‘House With 500 Rooms’, before making their relationship to Soul Clap Records official with the well-rounded ‘Old Streets’ EP. 2016 will see the release of more songs - some dance music, some not at all.

The Scumfrog Bio

25 years after his first DJ gig, and 10 years since his first successful album, Jesse Houk aka The Scumfrog continues to do exactly what he feels like doing; recording his most personal album to date “In Case We’re All Still Here”. Going back to his roots of psychedelic and deep influences, mixed with a wink at sci-fi and a deep understanding of what makes a solid underground groove, Jesse teams up with Armada Music for a journey into Deep House and Tech House. Beside his widely acclaimed song with Sting “If I Ever Lose My Faith”, the album features collaborations with Static Revenger, Vince Elliott, Vassy, and Christian Burns, while other tracks on the album contain Jesse’s own signature vocals.

Not particularly inspired by the commercial side effects of the recent EDM explosion, The Scumfrog decided to retreat to the underground in 2011 with the release of “A Place Where We Belong” on his Facebook page; a project that spawned singles on prestigious labels like 1605, Floorplay, Inkfish, and Armada. He restricted his live shows strictly to venues that prioritize music and sound before bottle service and bachelorette parties, further reflecting his strong commitment to underground sounds, and to making a connection with people that share his love and vast knowledge of music.
Prior to his renewed alliance with the underground, The Scumfrog was mostly known for his award winning stripped-down remixes of artists like Missy Elliott, New Order, Kylie Minogue, and Annie Lennox, and his collaborations writing/producing techno oriented works with David Bowie and Cyndi Lauper. And now, with his Sting project "If I Ever Lose My Faith," The Scumfrog strongly displays his deep House roots, while still giving mass appeal to the main vocal mix.

As a DJ, The Scumfrog has toured the world many times over, and since 2009 he hosts a weekly radio show/podcast Glam Scum International, showcasing the side of Electronic Dance music that is not for everyone.
