New to the Bay Area, Becca Rees is looking to bring more rock-influenced music back to the public ear. Her music is raw and melodious and will remain with you through the night. Her voice will bring back your fond memories of strong female fronted bands like Concrete Blond, 4 Non Blondes, and Heart, but her style is unique and will appeal to a variety of minds. Tuesday, October 7 at 7pm she will be making her debut performance at El Rio at 3158 Mission St. along with Elliot Racine, who’s recordings may swell with unorthodox instruments of all kinds, but in his solo acoustic set he narrows it down to just one: the acoustic bass. Even in this unexpected, stripped-down format, Elliot still manages to deliver his unique brew of Velvet Underground-tinged rock 'n roll, Babatunde Olatunji-esque polyrhythm, and Parliament-like outlandishness.
