Now in our 5th year at MCCLA, Beat Shop offers fun and engaging music production classes for people of all ages. "In our adult workshops in SF's Mission District, we have used Reason, Ableton Live and a series of MIDI controllers to teach people with no previous musical training to compose their own music. Using MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface), we found different ways of making music easy to understand, utilizing step sequencers, MIDI grids, Audio FX, and other production tricks that don't require knowledge of a keyboard or steady rhythm. We have been able to post over 100 of our students' tracks to Soundcloud after only an 8-week course."
