SEE EVENT DETAILS
The Bay City Blues is our weekly showcase of world class Blues music and superb instrumental talent. This event is a celebration of the Blues in all its forms and an adventure into the depth of a national genre. Hosted by the nationally recognized Ron Thompson & his All-Star cast of Musicians, every week they invite a new special guest to accompany them on stage and present new, upcoming, & old talent from the blues world! Bay City Blues is our tribute and exploration into the Blues genre, it is a special event in which we all get to help, share, & “Preserve the Blues."

About Little Wolf:
Born in Chester, Texas, Malik "Little Wolf" was the only musically-inclined member of his family. He was exposed to the blues at an early age, having spent much of his youth listening to Muddy Waters, Lightnin' Hopkins, Slim Harpo, and Rufus Thomas on the radio. While enlisted in the 101st Airborne Division, he was trained as a boxer, and two years later, he returned to the Bay Area to resume his professional career in music.

Malik is also an excellent drummer and has been known to sing from behind the drum kit. Malik will be the first to tell you that his all-time favorite vocalist is the "Boss of the Blues", Big Joe Turner, whom he had the opportunity to assemble and lead a backup band for.

And how did he get his name, you ask? "Howlin' Wolf has always been a huge influence of mine," Malik says. It surely shows - and when you hear him belt out the old classics like Louise and Killin' Floor, you'll find out for yourself that Little Wolf sings nothin' but "The Real Deal Blues"!

About Ron Thompson:
Ron Thompson is a legendary rhythm and blues guitarist and master keyboardist whose career began in the rough and tumble world of East San Francisco Bay nightclubs and bars in the early ‘70s. During many years of touring coast to coast with John Lee Hooker, Hooker was quoted as saying, "Ron Thompson, he's my main man!" Not many living blues musicians can say they have performed with and recorded for legends like Big Mama Thornton, Tina Turner, Bruce Willis, Luther Tucker, Jimmy McCracklin, Pee Wee Crayton, Carla Thomas, Booker T. Jones, Percy Mayfield, Etta James, B.B. King, and Jimmy Reed. Ron Thompson can, and that’s just the beginning!

After serving as John Lee Hooker’s bandleader for seven years, Thompson went on to form his own group, Ron Thompson and His Resisters, which continues to tour extensively in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Central America. In the early 80’s, Ron met Mick Fleetwood (Fleetwood Mac) and the two became musical partners and close friends. Ron and Mick formed the band, Mick Fleetwood’s Blue Whale. Blue Whale still occasionally performs, when Ron and Mick's busy schedules permit.

Ron Thompson was honored by the City of San Francisco for his decades of musical contributions. A few days after Barry Bonds got "his day" in The City for breaking the all-time American baseball home run record, San Francisco celebrated its own musical home run king, Ron Thompson. By official proclamation of Mayor Gavin Newsom, September 5, 2007, was declared "Ron Thompson Day in San Francisco."
