Bay Area All Stars w/ Chris Cain Band

SEE EVENT DETAILS
The Bay Area Allstars blues celebration will be an exceptional opportunity to catch some of the Bay areas top blues musicians all under one roof here at Biscuits and Blues. Expect to see a musical chairs of memorable performances from some of our favorite Biscuits and Blues Alumni backed by The Chris Cain Band as well as other notable musicians. The night will feature performances from Chris Cain & the Chris Cain Band, The Bey Paule Band, The Paula Harris Band, The Earl Thomas Band, Aki Kumar, Kyle Rowland, Jules Leyhe, John Garcia, George Bisharat, Terrie Odabi, Tia Carroll, and Mitch Woods.

Chris Cain:
Chris Cain's jazz-tinged, blues soaked guitar and deep, warm vocals have the maturity and authenticity of bluesmen many years his senior. His expressive style is the result of a lifetime of study and the relentless pursuit of music mastery. Through his guitar mastery and remarkable songwriting ability, Chris Cain has established himself as a musical force to be reckoned with. And as San Jose Mercury News music reviewer John Orr writes, “more than anyone else, anywhere, Chris Cain represents the future of the blues.”

The Bey Paule Band:
The Frank Bey and Anthony Paule Band has been mesmerizing West Coast audiences since 2011. Frank Bey’s hypnotic vocals and Paule’s lofty guitar playing, keep their band on a shelf all by itself. However, if comparisons need to be made, they would be likened to Bobby Bland, B.B. King, Ray Charles, and Otis Redding. They've rightly earned two Blues Music Awards nominations, and have toured the world.

Paula Harris:
“If Etta James fronted the Tower of Power- and they were a blues band- THAT is what Paula Harris sounds like!” Her band, the “Beasts of Blues” and her Horn section “Big Ass Brass” are world-class and they put on a show that is as impressive as their sound.
Mitch Woods
Mitch Woods and his band the Rocket 88s have been the torchbearers of a great American blues musical heritage, not for three years but three decades. He takes much of his inspiration from the great jump n’ boogie outfits of the late 40s and early 50s and adds a healthy dose of New Orleans rhythm and blues to his piledrivin’ piano.

Aki Kumar:
Dynamic frontman & harp player Aki Kumar is a rising star among the next generation of SF Bay Area blues artists. A master of the amplified Chicago blues sound, Kumar inherits his style from the harp legends of the 1950s and 60s. Aki has a unique voice in the blues, blending elements of blues harmonica pioneers of yesteryear with a signature sound of his own.

Kyle Rowland:
His playing excuses genuineness- as if he pains over each blues note from his harmonica, and deeply feels each lyric in his songbook. "Blues harmonica player of the year" and "Blues New Artist of The Year" in 2009 from the West Coast Blues Hall of Fame, Kyle Rowland, has been dominating the stage since the tender age of 10 years old.

Tia Carroll:
Over the last ten years, Carroll has quietly accumulated one of the most impressive entertainment resumes in the Bay Area and has become one of the most sought-after female singers on the West Coast. She’s earned a reputation for her sizzling stage show, and always generates a buzz whenever she brings her band to town.

Alvon:
One of the most versatile Musicians Singers and Entertainers on the music scene today, Mr. Alvon Johnson is the obvious choice for your entertainment needs. When he travels to Russia he is referred to as the “King of the Blues” and the “Ambassador of the Blues”. His love and respect for the American art form is shared by large and enthusiastic audiences all over the world.

John Garcia:
As a professional singer and guitarist for the last 40 years, John has performed with John Lee Hooker, B.B.King, Johnny Winters, Paul Simon, Bonnie Raitt, Albert King and many more. As a Blues guitarist, there are few his equal. Instrumental virtuosity coupled with a unique vocal style are his trademarks.

Terrie Odabi:
Few vocalists own the stage like Terrie Odabi. When the statuesque Oakland native begins to sing, a hush falls over the audience. They’re about to take a ride through the highs and lows of soul music, led by a beautiful singer who packs her shows with heart-pumping energy and poignant memories.

George Bisharat:
Big Harp George/George Bisharat is a San Francisco Bay Area blues singer and harmonica player who features the chromatic harmonica. The chromatic (compared to the ten-hole diatonic more common to blues) has a distinctive voice, and lends Big Harp George's sound a jazzy, contemporary, and sophisticated feel.

Jules Leyhe:
It’s hard to find a true blues guitarist in today’s musical landscape, but that’s exactly what you get with Jules Leyhe. With the soul of a musician three times his age, Leyhe combines classic blues guitar with modern electronic instrumentation and creates a sonic mesh you’ll surely feel in your core.
