Kids Threads for the Fall

As a new wave of parents raise their kids in the city, there seem to be more choices for kids clothing popping up throughout the city. Whether you’re shopping for your own child or a youngster you know who deserves a little extra attention at the start of the school year, here are a few selections for you. Many are in the midst of end of summer/back to school sales, so bargains can be found. If for some reason you can’t make it to the stores in person, many of them offer online shopping, as well.

Noe Valley

The Filipino greeting of Mabuhay translates to English as “long life.” That greeting represents the core of Camille Guerrero Seiberling’s business philosophy, as long life is something both the toys and the clothes in the store share in common. The store carries locally designed, stylish, handmade and eco-conscious clothing and toys for girls and boys from newborns to six years. This includes a hand-woven alpaca bowling set, Cotton Monsters hand made of recycled materials, and cotton Robot onesies from Jasper Hearts Wren, with designs made of washable felt from 100 percent post-consumer recycled plastic bottles. Camille balances her business life with that of being a mom, so you’ll find that the store is mostly open in the afternoon, but if for some reason she’s not there, call or email to let her know you’re coming.

Down the street, Small Frys provides clothing for children from preemies to size seven. California-made brands available in the store include Cach-Cach and Sweet Potatoes, plus other lines like Cakewalk, Le Top, and Catamini. The store specializes in 100 percent cotton clothing for babies as well accessories such as carriers from Bjorn, Kangaroo and Ergo, Mustela skin products, and See Kai Run, and Robeeze footwear.
