Attraction: New Paintings by Greg Ragland

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Gallery Bergelli is pleased to present "Attraction", an exhibition of new paintings by Greg Ragland. Opening on October 18, with the Gallery Reception on from 4pm-6pm, and the Artist Talk at 5pm, the exhibition continues through November 20, 2014.

Greg Ragland's paintings are defined by his observations of nature and have a sense of playful serenity about them. "There is a captivating pleasure derived from watching the abstract shapes of moving clouds in the sky. Flowers with magnetic charm entice with delicate fragile shapes and electric, stimulating smells. The lure of light and color inspire and entertain," Ragland remarks. In his paintings, color and compositions flow together creating movement and depth. Combined with what the artist refers to "Color Fields" as the calming and bright backgrounds, the hummingbirds are able to take flight within his work. These tiny powerful hummingbirds are spectacles of magical soaring and acrobatics. There are fascinating landscapes of abstract rocks and layered patterns designed by the extremes; the enchantment of trees, each one individually sculpted to fit its environment and the seductive kinetics of water. "All these elements are "attractions "to my senses and define my paintings. " - says Greg Ragland.

Greg was born in Augusta Georgia and grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He studied architecture at Arizona State University, received his BFA from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena California and his MFA from the University of Utah. Prior to settling in Park City, Utah in 1990, Greg worked as an artist in Los Angeles and New York City.
