Thu Feb 7

The result of a five year endeavor of collecting, studying and getting to know Leonora Carrington, one of the last surviving Surrealist artists and writers. It has been almost ten years since such a major collection of her work has been on display (her last solo exhibition in California was at the Mexican Museum in San Francisco in 1991).
Thu Feb 7 - Sat Feb 9
at Cobb's Comedy Club (see listing for times)
Janeane Garofalo's comedy is cynical, harsh, and yet somehow still charming. Her topical rants often make fun of popular culture, politics, and the pressures on women to conform to body image ideals promoted by the media. Garofalo is a self-described pessimist: "I guess I just prefer to see the dark side of things. The glass is always half empty. And cracked. And I just cut my lip on it. And chipped a tooth."
Thu Feb 7 - Sat Feb 9
at CounterPULSE (8pm)
CounterPULSE's Winter 2008 Artists in Residence begin with intensely personal stories, weaving outwards to address issues with global relevance. Choreographer Brittany Brown Ceres explores how emotions are stored in our bodies and their implications in our actions, while experimental theater director Maya Gurantz focuses on the lives of Silicon Valley workers as they challenge the mythology of a "Clean" Silicon Valley.
Sat Feb 9
at SomArts Cultural Center (Gallery) (2pm - late)
Eternal Spring - a celebration of life, love, arts and creativity. Join us in an all-day event featuring upcoming artists and designers from a variety of disciplines. The event will be held at the Saturday before Valentine's Day. This is the perfect place to find that unique hand-made gift for yourself or your significant other that you would never find anywhere else.
