The Boss…
While Jason Richardson is unquestionably one of the most talented players on the Golden State Warriors, few can argue the impact Baron Davis has had since his arrival. A team that won 16 games from November through February has now won nine games in the month of March alone. Baron's presence has injected new life into a moribund franchise. In the words of Mickael Pietrus, "He's the boss." More

The Hottest Team in California
With a few weeks left in the season, teams are pushing for a spot in the playoffs. The Warriors are peaking at exactly the right time of the season. Golden State is 13-7 since the All Star Break and ESPN have Warriors at a season high #17 in the "Power Rankings" (five higher than the LA Lakers). Unfortunately for Golden State, the playoffs have been a foregone conclusion for at least a month. If only Baron Davis had been acquired a bit sooner. More

The Future's Bright…
Despite being out of the playoff hunt, the Golden State Warriors have been playing with playoff like intensity for the past month putting together a lengthy string of wins and consistent performances that almost makes one forget how abysmally this team played in the earlier parts of the season. The Warriors would need this kind of intensity for two tough games last week against the Western Conference leading Phoenix Suns and the consistently threatening San Antonio Spurs. More

A Season Comes to a Close…
Last week marked the end of Golden State’s eight game win streak after falling to San Antonio and Denver. However, Golden State forced the Spurs to two overtimes before finally succumbing and the Nuggets have been going supernova since George Karl took over coaching duties. So, there was little shame in falling to two teams that will likely make waves in the playoffs. More

Despite its Grey Colors - The Shipping News is Bright
Are you scared of the water? Do you remember the first time you learned to swim? The way you floundered about with wailing limbs and a gasping mouth. Some people never recover from the experience and refuse to get back into the water afterwards; they are scarred for life. The main character in The Shipping News, known as Quoyle, is decidedly "not a water person". More

Overbroad Satire Misses More than it Hits
A personal project for writer-producer-actor John Cusack (High Fidelity, Gross Pointe Blank, Say Anything), War, Inc. is a political satire that’s acerbic, caustic, mordant, but hampered by a seen-that, know-that-already feeling and hit-or-miss gags that undercut its anti-war, anti-corporate, anti-corruption themes. War, Inc. isn’t going to convince anyone who isn’t already on the center-left of the political divide to switch political allegiances and vote differently in the upcoming presidential election, but what the film does have is John Cusack's engaging, sympathetic performance. San Francisco artists findinspiration during wartime
As the epicenter of homeland dissent, and one of the most rapidly reactive art scenes in the states, it is no surprise that San Francisco has been host
to several highly politicized art events of late. The large number of shows devoted to the "war cause" is impressive. However, it is more than just the
breadth of exhibits that is capturing the public's attention. The quality and depth of thought displayed by so many of the artists is what is really setting the Bay Area art scene apart right now. .. More

M Night Shyamalan's Signs
Some people look better with age. Some people look worse and some people grow unsightly ear hair, eat with their mouths open and become really eccentric. Writer, director and occasional actor, M. Night Shyamalan is becoming more and more like the latter. You can't blame him really - The Sixth Sense is a hard act to follow. After such an astounding cinematic debut, his other movies have been good but disappointing. More

They're Already Here…
While few things could possibly be more entertaining than watching Tom Cruise unleash a scathing indictment on the field of psychiatry, Steven Spielberg's latest, War of the Worlds comes close. Spielberg makes a triumphant return to his science fiction roots with this remake of H.G. Wells' classic. More
