Coming in March to Madrone Art Bar: An original mural by Andrew Agutos
"Andrew Agutos is a mixed-media artist, painter and designer from San Jose, CA. Inspired by all types of creative media, from high fashion runways and pop culture to rap music and all things the internet, he creates dynamic layered artwork that speaks to an evolving visual culture. He has produced works for brands both big and small, including Budweiser, Bacardi and San Jose clothing boutiques, Azuki and Elusive. His work has also been exhibited at major music festivals, including Jay Z’s Made in America Festival (2014) and Coachella (2010). With a BFA in Painting/Drawing from California College of the Arts, Andrew currently resides in Los Angeles and balances his fine art work as a Graphic/Web Designer at contemporary women’s apparel company, DimepieceLA.
Andrew’s art transcends both the creative and fashion industries through special projects specifically aimed at social cause and community impact. He has painted murals at Roosevelt Community Center for the City of San Jose, and has led art workshops at Robert Sanders Elementary and UC Berkeley’s SASC Summer Institute. Andrew has been in exhibits at OTIS LOUNGE in San Francisco, PHANTOM GALLERIES in San Jose, and THE SEVENTH LETTER in Los Angeles.
Designer of his own product/lifestyle brand, DROOP, Andrew is most passionate about democratizing the world's access to art be it through fashion, graphic design or abstract painting, and hopes to provide meaningful opportunities for art lovers to interact with his work beyond traditional gallery settings. His ultimate goal is to become a master of color and have his work displayed in major cities across the globe."
