Veterans Supportive Services Agency presents its 2nd Annual Armed Forces Day Run and Festival in the Park
Registration is now open for the VSSA Armed Forces Day Run and Festival at the Park at Lake Cunningham Park in San Jose. Organizers are striving to ensure this event is much more than just your ordinary running event but rather a community celebration of our US Armed Forces.
The Armed Forces Day Run and Festival in the Park will take place on Saturday, May 21, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and will include a 5/10K timed run along with a 1 mile run/walk for families and supporters.
After the run, there will be free community event offering live music, dozens of local artisans, food, bounce houses and so much more! With Sam Van Zandt from KBAY 94.5 as our MC along with Vice Mayor, Rose Herrera, announcing our award winners from the race and kicking off the festival, it's going to be an amazing day.
President Harry S. Truman led the effort to establish a single holiday for citizens to come together and thank our military members for their patriotic service in support of our country. “We are excited to bring a quality, community event to San Jose that will honor and celebrate our Armed Forces,” says Tiara Cortez Miller, board member of VSSA. Thanks to our sponsors including Synaptics, Pacific Gas & Electric Company, El Observador, USS Hornet and Salon NV of Willow Glen, this event will be a very special day and one we hope will provide the opportunity for the entire community to come together and celebrate our heroes here locally and those much farther from home.

Veterans Supportive Services Agency, Inc. (VSSA) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit charitable organization whose mission is to help eligible Veterans apply for service connected disability life-time compensation. We are solely dedicated to providing life enhancing supportive services to US Armed Forces Veterans and their families. We have been serving Veterans since 2011 and help injured Veterans with their initial application of a service connected disability claim or assist them to file in reaching a level of service connected disability up to 100%. This assistance also applies to Veterans who have already filed their claims, and Veterans whose claims were denied.
