Artist, musician and developer Matthew Howell premieres Polyenvironments, an exploration of the somatic effects of San Francisco's surroundings on the human experience.
Participants will meet up at Intersection for the Arts with their own smartphones. The artist will provide an introduction to and instructions for using the Polyenvironments app, a tool created by the artist to interpret designs in pictures as sounds. Participants will then go on self-designed walks around the city and capture their visual compositions of the San Francisco cityscape. Photographs taken on the smartphone will be converted by the Polyenvironments app into a unique audio composition.
