Instead of an overwhelming jumble of choices, Aquarius Records carries a small and discriminating selection of indie rock, punk, metal, and electronica. A prominent stand displays staff picks, which usually includes a mind expanding mix of obscure bands, usually from an obscure location and an, um, rather obscure point in rock history. So basically, Aquarius specializes in the obscure with very specific genres like kraut rock, prog rock, and all kinds of metal, but even the clueless can get a clue with the helpful reviews that you find slapped on most of the CDs. These reviews, personally crafted by Aquarius employees, describe a bit of the band's sound, influences, genre, or history.
