Local Anya Kvitka is hard to pin down. Hip-hop, trip-hop, future garage, jazz, it doesn't matter, whatever genre she alights upon is the better for her killer voice. Last month Anya released an EP every week-working with a variety of producers in a whole variety of musical genres-but many with regular collaborator snack|BOT (The whole blast of EPs had a running Fifth Element theme too, which is awesome). Snack|BOT, along with guitarist Matt Gonzales and drummer Mitchell Wilcox, make up the Get Down portion of Anya and the Get Down. Anya, with her soulful voice and fantastic range, of course makes up the Anya portion. (Stephen Layton)
