Description
Anthony Mastromatteo (b. 1970) is a hyperrealist painter of trompe l’oeil and
still life. Meticulously crafted, his paintings belie their deconstructive nature. Truth is always relative for Mastromatteo, whose work often creates paradoxes wherein truth and fiction intermingle.
Mastromatteo graduated from Princeton University and studied painting and
drawing with Jacob Collins at the Water Street Atelier in Brooklyn, New York. He has shown in group exhibitions at John Pence Gallery in San Francisco in 2005 and 2004 and has also exhibited at Spanierman Gallery in New York and Bonfoey Gallery in Cleveland.
