Ansel Adams is one of the most legendary California photographers and conservationists, having spent much of his life capturing the rugged Western landscape with intense sharp focus, harmony, and balance. A champion of black and white photography, Ansel Adams cultivated a new modernist style that is still revered today. The photographs on display at the Monterey Museum of Art-La Mirada were generously donated to the Museum by Virginia Adams in honor of Margaret W. Weston, and come from the Museum Set, a project he initiated in his last five years with the help of Maggi Weston and the Weston Gallery in Carmel, California.
