Anna Deavere Smith, An Evening of Community and Conversation

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Don’t miss an exciting opportunity to experience the acclaimed actress, playwright, and professor, ANNA DEAVERE SMITH, live in the East Bay! On April 21st, DayBreak Adult Care Centers presents an evening of Community and Conversation at the First Congregational Church in Berkeley. Enjoy fine local foods, premium wines, top-notch raffle experiences, and a riveting performance featuring excerpts from the powerful, one-woman show, Let Me Down Easy. Together with Anna, we will explore aging, the vulnerability of the body and the resilience of the human spirit. Based on interviews with an eclectic range of people, Anna will provoke profound thoughts on how we “value life and think about our mortality. Through feeling” — feeling the characters’ heartbreak, their hope, their resignation — “we deepen our understanding."

All proceeds benefit DayBreak Adult Care Centers, a network of adult care centers throughout Alameda County. These daytime centers offer frail seniors and adults with disabilities a welcoming community and high-level care that addresses their complex medical and cognitive needs, and helps them to remain happy, healthy and independent.

Early-bird tickets now on sale through March 7th. To learn more and purchase your tickets today, visit https://www.daybreakcenters.org
